Background: 

Lugnaquilla House Hostel, Aughavannagh is situated on the Military Road, 1.5km from the Iron Bridge on the Wicklow Way. Set above the Ow River Valley and in view of Lugnaquilla Mountain (927m), the hostel is a perfect base to set down while walking the Wicklow Way.

Opened in June '08, this quaint homely hostel offers a peaceful, relaxing respite. The common room with its solid fuel stove gives warmth and comfort to the intrepid traveler. For visitors sightseeing, it is a perfect base to see the surrounding region.

The hostel shop provides basic foodstuffs and treats. Lugnaquilla House Hostel is a member of the IHO (Independent Hostel Owners).

The Military Road cuts through Aughavannagh and this is where the last of five military barracks were built circa 1800. This once housed an An Óige hostel which closed in 1998.
