The Skylark’s Hostel is a small hostel

(maximum occupancy is 14); however there is a range of different room layouts to accommodate individuals, couples, families, and small groups.  They have minimized the use of bunk beds to make your stay more comfortable.  There are only two bunk beds.


-twin or double rooms

-four-bed dorms; and

-family rooms with a combination of

double and single beds


As the hostel is relatively small it is best

to book in advance to ensure availability. 


The Skylark’s Rest is an ideal accommodation option for small groups

and club outings.  They’ve had a range of groups book in with them, including

book clubs, mountain biking groups, and

hill-walking clubs.  Full hostel rental is

also possible for groups.  Please contact the hostel to discuss your group’s needs

or get further information on full hostel rental.

from the leisurely to the more challenging hillwalking routes that are easily accessible from The Skylark’s Rest, including walks around Lough Dan and Luggala.

The Skylark’s Rest has road bikes

for hire.  Ballinastoe Mountain Bike Trail is a 14 km network of purpose-built mountain bike trails is 5 km from

the hostel

-go angling for brown trout (by artificial fly only) on the shores of the

Lower Varty Reservoir in Roundwood

(March 1-Oct. 12).  A permit is issued

4-acre fly fishing lake on the banks of

the Avonmore River at nearby

Annamoe Trout Fishery.  All equipment and accessories can be hired at the fishery.  Casting tuition can also be arranged.

team of qualified BHS instructors

who offer treks and lessons on a group or individual basis
